Getting a new pet can be very stressful for them, here are some tips on how to make it less stressful for your pet.
1: Try not to handle them as much. Avoid cuddles and picking them up a lot, unless they seem to enjoy your company. Imagine this; these giants take you away from what you are used to and then drag you around their house, not very enjoyable.
2: If it is a smaller pet (like a reptile, rat, or bird of any kind) leave them in their enclosure for AT LEAST 24 hours. They need to get to their new home before they get used to you.
3: Don’t expect them to eat. They will be very stressed, so that won’t be what their focused on.
4: Set up an area they can retreat to, they will be scared. Try getting a hooded bed for cats and small dogs, and give your reptile plenty of hides, for birds you can cover their cage with a blanket at night. This way, your pet will feel much safer with you.
5: If it takes a while for them to get to love you, don‘t get discouraged. The more confident you are handling your pet, the more you will be able to help them to come out of their shell. But keep in mind, some animals may never get used to you, so you need to be prepared to take care of an animal that may not give you all the love in the world.
I hope this post was helpful, thank you and bye!
